“iGA’s Social Investment Program, aims to increase the livelihood of the nine adjacent neighbourhoods around Istanbul Airport through meaningful and reliable relationships, based on transparent, timely information supply and open dialogue. The Social Investment Program is carried out in two components; rapid impact projects aimed at meeting basic needs and capacity building, and long-term, tangible-output and income-generating projects through sustainable activities.

With the Social Investment Program, iGA’s priorities are;
• Determining the socio-economic structure in the neighbourhood academically and impartially,
• Designing and executing projects in concrete, effective, egalitarian manner,
• Creating an uninterrupted, reliable and impartial communication channel with local people,
• Implementing original projects that set an example for other organisations,
• Ensuring effective stakeholder management and participation in order to strengthen ownership, responsibility-sharing and co-financing of the activities,
• Ensuring that activities comply with the IFC Performance Standards and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as with national requirements.

Within the scope of the program, iGA implemented 4 main activities and 1 sub activity of iGA Social Investment Program between 2017 and 2021.

The program’s focus is under two pillars:
1- Regional development
2- Upcycling & Recycling

This report elaborates on the social change realised through projects implemented and stakeholder dialogue generated by use of SROI. iGA aims to contribute to the sustainable development of settlements around the airport. The Social Investment Program consists of different activities that are designed for different segments of the stakeholders. Local people are the main beneficiary of the Program and segmented further under two groups;
(1) Local women and (2) Local young people.

The analysis time period covers 2017 to 2021 since each activity started in different years.”

“The ProFuturo Program is a partnership between Ayala Foundation, Inc. (AFI) and Fundacion ProFuturo through a Master Collaboration Agreement signed in 2017 with the Department of Education (DEPED) Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan (MIMAROPA) Regional Office. The project aims to provide digital mobile classroom support to elementary school teachers and students with the goal of helping ensure quality elementary education. The digital mobile classroom is composed of three major components such as provision of devices and Internet connectivity, education platform and learning contents, and training and mentoring for teachers. Devices include tablets for students, laptops with software and router for teachers and mini projector for the class. Learning contents covers linguistics, mathematics, sciences, technology, values, and life skills.

The pilot implementation of ProFuturo was in two Ayala Foundation community development sites in El Nido, Palawan and Puerto Galera, Occidental Mindoro, both located in the MIMAROPA Region. AFI measured the Social Return on Investment (SROI) of this Pilot implementation covering 2018 – 2020. SROI is a framework for measuring social value. It aims to reduce inequality, environmental degradation, and improve well–being by accounting social, environmental, and economic costs and benefits (The SROI Guide, 2012).

The objective of the analysis is to investigate the benefits of ProFuturo to stakeholders and use the result to improve implementation of the program.”

“Many disadvantaged persons in our society with an urgent need for cash find it difficult to obtain bank loans or to receive such loans on relatively favorable terms, and this ends up causing them even bigger problems. To help such persons through difficult times, O–Bank launched the Social Impact Program in late 2020. O–Bank is inviting customers to open time deposit accounts under the Social Impact Program, and the funds deposited in these special accounts are used solely for the specific purpose of backing microloans that will be provided with no service charges and at low interest rates to help economically disadvantaged persons deal with financial emergencies. O–Bank intends to take advantage of its banking expertise and tap into the power of its customers to arrange for funds from the exact same sources as before to have an impact unlike that of before.

To review the outcomes of our Social Impact Program, O–Bank has adopted Social Return on Investment (SROI) methodology as a Social Impact Program evaluation tool, and to prepare a report. The period covered by this report (which is categorized as an SROI evaluation report) spans from 1 December 2020 to 30 November 2021.”

“The evaluators were commissioned to complete an evaluation of the Wren’s Nest Navigator Project.

The project aims to reduce crime and ASB on the estate, reduce unemployment and increase educational attainment, increase individual resilience and generally raise the skills and aspirations of estate residents by working with individuals and families via a combination of buddying, mentoring, physical and online activities and support.

The project outputs were to support 120 individuals per year. The activities planned aimed to support adults and children and young people to overcome barriers and increase their resilience the project aims to reduce entrenched worklessness, improve independent living skills, improve quality of life and raise aspirations for the benefit of future generations.

…for every £1 invested in the Wren’s Nest Navigator Project, there is £3 of social value returned so far.“

“As part of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project between Routes To Work (RTW henceforth) and the University of the West of Scotland, the KTP team has developed, piloted and is in the process of embedding a Social Value Evaluation Framework. Through its strategic partnership with a Higher Education Institution and the guidance of a multidisciplinary team of Academics, RTW can measure and optimise its value to stakeholders. Beyond traditional, tangible measures of success like employment outcomes, RTW aims to expand the traditional understanding of employability interventions by underlining the value of ‘intangible (or ‘soft’) outcomes, such as improved confidence or mental health. This accounts for the triumphs and challenges faced by service users, recognising the wider social and economic impact of employability services.”

“Accounting for the variety of impact created, this analysis forecasts:

• Routes To Work will create £6.89, or a range of £3.42 – £12.76, of social value for every £1 invested in its services

This calculation is based on a combination of quantitative and qualitative data collection conducted from January to September 2022. During this time period, the evaluation engaged with staff, employers and service users through surveys, one–to–one interviews, focus groups and a validity test to gather feedback on and refine the data collection methods. Reflecting the voices and stories of RTW stakeholders, the forecasted Social Return on Investment measures the projected return on investment of RTW interventions from 1st of April 2022 – 31st of March 2023.“

“This report is an evaluation of the Doroob Scholarship Program in Kenya for the years 2017 to end of 2019 and assesses the social impact that the project has generated for its key stakeholders during this period.
The Scholarship is fully focused on nurturing gifted students, and this is the baseline used in developing this report. The stakeholders are at the forefront of coming up with, confirming and verifying the final outcomes and based on their opinions…

The program has also shown that despite all outcomes being important for all the main stakeholders, there is a great value placed beyond academic performance and the below from a scholarship recipient says it best on our efforts and the vision we have for it:

“It actually improved my life and my and how I think. There are actually people around who are ready to help. Ready to encourage you in whatever you are doing. It enhances your goals and there are high chances of you pursuing your career.”

Other key findings include students placing a premium value in their aspirations and parents along the lines of security and ability to provide better education for their other children.”

“Envoy Partnership conducted a Social Return on Investment (SROI) evaluation of Barry Callebaut’s Community Engagement for Sustainable Elimination of Child Labor (CESEC) Programme. The SROI was conducted in accordance with the Guide to SROI, 1 and the Social Value principles – which are managed by Social Value International.2 Envoy Partnership were supported by Solidaridad Network, who conducted all of the  fieldwork, and contributed to the design of the research materials and analysis of the results. The purpose of this study was to explore the effectiveness of the CESEC programme, the value that it creates for stakeholders, and the extent to which it represents value for money.“

La Asociación Norte Joven se fundó hace 36 años para promover el desarrollo personal y la integración social y laboral de personas en situación de desventaja social, principalmente jóvenes, ofreciendo educación y formación, promoviendo el acceso al empleo y sensibilizando a la sociedad.

La organización lleva a cabo varias iniciativas relacionadas con la oferta de alternativas formativas a quienes, por razones personales, sociales y/o económicas, encuentran más barreras para su inclusión social e integración laboral. Para prevenir los altos niveles actuales de desempleo juvenil, Norte Joven promueve diferentes líneas de intervención: planes de formación integral y a medida, atención a menores, integración social para migrantes, solicitantes de asilo, refugiados y trabajo en red.

Los cambios expresados en el informe SROI sobre el programa “Generando Futuro” pretenden poner en valor el cambio y evidenciar su importancia utilizando variables económicas, que van más allá de otros sistemas.  El SROI es una herramienta vital que debería formar parte de cualquier proceso de toma de decisiones sobre programas sociales y/o inversiones.

El análisis se desarrolló para este programa en particular, pero la metodología (SROI) podría aplicarse a cualquier otro programa gestionado por la organización.

La mayoría de las partes interesadas que participaron en el programa experimentaron resultados muy valiosos. Utilizando los principios del SROI, este análisis constató que el ratio de rentabilidad social se calculó en 2,28 euros por cada euro invertido. El análisis de sensibilidad reveló que el retorno social probablemente aparece en un rango entre 1,47 y 4,40 euros.

El análisis se desarrolló para este programa, pero la metodología (SROI) podría aplicarse a cualquier otro programa gestionado por la organización.

El SROI se centra en medir “qué cambia” como cambio de la actividad financiada y gestionada por la Asociación Norte Joven. En este proyecto, se identificaron 769 personas como encuestados y se agruparon en diferentes grupos de interés para participar en el análisis. Los impactos producidos por el programa se han estudiado en detalle para registrar y medir el valor percibido sin juzgar los cambios.”

“The aim of this report was to answer the question: What is the Social Return on Investment (SROI) of engaging 288 teenagers in a training and job placement program) in Spain.

The Norte Joven Association was founded 36 years ago to promote the personal development and social and labor integration of people in social disadvantage, mainly young people, by offering education and training, promoting access to employment, and raising social awareness.

The organization runs several initiatives related to offering training alternatives to those who, for personal, social, and/or economic reasons, encounter more barriers to their social inclusion and labor integration. To prevent the current high levels of youth unemployment, Norte Joven promotes different lines of intervention: holistic and tailored training plans, care for minors, social integration for immigrants, asylum applicants, refugees, and networking.

The results shown in the report for the “Generating Future by Connecting Training to Employment” program go beyond the value captured in other social impact measurements, as it intends to put a financial value to the outcomes identified by the stakeholders. SROI is a vital tool that should be part of any decision-making process related to social programs or/and investments.

Most stakeholders who engaged in program experienced highly valuable outcomes. Using the principles of SROI, this analysis found that the social return ratio was calculated at €2.28 for every €1.00 invested. Sensitivity analysis revealed that the social return likely appears in a range between €1.47 and to €4.40.

SROI focuses on measuring “what changes” as a result of the activity financed and managed by the Norte Joven Association. In this project, 760 people were identified as respondents and grouped into different stakeholder groups to be involved in the analysis. The changes (impacts) brought about by the program have been studied in detail to record and measure the perceived value without judging the outcomes.”

Crann, established in 2014, is a registered charity based in Ovens County Cork. It provides evidence based, high quality services and supports for children, adults and families living with neuro–physical disabilities. Its services are focused on, but not limited to, people who have Spina Bifida, Hydrocephalus, Muscular Dystrophy, Cerebral Palsy, Childhood stroke and Spinal Cord Injury.

The Crann Model of Care, based on the Ascend Two–Generation approach, places the family at the centre of a range of supports where services are delivered to each family member, either at the same time or separately. The organisation believes that by supporting the whole family it can help the child or adult with a disability and the whole family to thrive.

Most stakeholders who engaged in services at Crann experienced highly valuable outcomes. Using the principles of SROI, this analysis found that the social return ratio was calculated at €4.05 for every €1.00 invested. Sensitivity analysis revealed that the social return likely appears in a range between €3.65 to €4.50.

Since its establishment in 2010, Taishin Charity Foundation (TCF) has aimed to support small and medium sized charitable organizations. In order to achieve that goal, TCF launched Taiwan’s first large-scale online charity event, called “The Power of Love Platform” (PLP). First, charitable organizations are invited to submit project proposals to the event website. The public then vote online for the organizations they believe contribute the largest positive impact. Finally, after voting is concluded, funds are distributed based on the allocation of votes. This event not only allows small and medium charitable organizations to receive much-needed funding, but it also provides publicity to participating organizations.

This report adopts the SROI methodology to evaluate the social value of the 11th PLP from October 1st, 2020 to November 30th, 2021, including a series of activities related to the PLP after the first-round review, online voting competition, and project execution.

“The Harmony Home Foundation established the Children’s Centers to provide helpless children with an environment that is safe from threats by providing 24/7 child care services, and to let the public better understand and become more concerned about children’s issues regardless of nationality through initiatives and promotion. Child care services provided by the Children’s Centers have been analyzed via Social Return on Investment (SROI) to determine the social benefits provided by the Children’s Centers since its establishment. Rolling adjustments are made based on research results and feedback, in hopes of drawing more attention and gaining support from the public sector and outside world and continuing to speak out for children’s rights.

The Harmony Home Foundation, Taiwan registered the Kaohsiung Children’s Center in January 2017 and the Harmony Home-Nangang Children’s Center in February 2020. This study evaluates the benefits and impact of the placement, care, counseling, and living subsidies provided by the two Children’s Centers of the Harmony Home Foundation, Taiwan (hereinafter referred to as the “Children’s Centers”) to children of all nationalities since the Children’s Centers were established until February 28, 2021.

A comprehensive survey and analysis of this study shows that child care services provided by the Children’s Centers have created the equivalent of NT$1.05 in social value for every NT$1 invested. The sensitivity analysis placed the result between NT$0.74 and NT$1.41. The three highest value outcomes of the Project are: “avoid the possibility of becoming destitute and homeless and putting children’s life and health at risk,” “better linguistic ability,” and “improved interpersonal relations” among children. Research results show that children are the stakeholder that benefited the most and had the most outcomes. Children also directly benefit from services provided by the Children’s Centers, which reflects the original intention of their establishment, that is to provide children of all ages, genders, and nationalities with proper care via a 24/7 placement institute, and protect the right of helpless children, so that they can grow up with good physical and mental health. The use of SROI clearly shows the substantial returns from inputs made by the Harmony Home Foundation in the Children’s Centers through feedback from stakeholders and calculations of outcome value. Research data and stakeholder feedback also drive improvements in organizational management that will provide children with better services.”

“Rural Up Program was launched in 2011 for rural development. The program is designed to cultivate students and rural communities for co-creation, and give them opportunities to solve real problems by putting their own ideas into practice.

Through this program, students become practitioner in rural villages for two months who can observe the question behind question, apply essential methods, lead multi-disciplinary teams to address challenges, communicate efficiently and effectively, and implement sustainable approaches that enhance rural development.

The program has been held eight times as of 2018, with many student teams participating every year. The scope of this evaluation is the eighth Rural Up program. This study adopts the SROI methodology to review the social impact of the eighth Rural Up from March 1, 2018 to September 30, 2018. Following stakeholder engagement, the key stakeholders of the program were found to be students, the Soil & Water Conservation Bureau (SWCB) and communities. The benefits of the program’s impact for the students were that they indeed absorbed relevant knowledge about farming/fishing village communities and that they began to think about the possibility of planning their careers in these communities. The organizer, Soil and Water Conservation Bureau, was able to get great public recognition via this program. From rural communities’ perspective, the execution of students’ creativity and ideas did change the villages on environment, community cohesion, community prestige  and favorable image.”

“This report contains a forecast of the economic, social, and environmental outcomes expected from the Phase II expansion of the Headwaters at the Comal Education Center in New Braunfels, Texas. New Braunfels is a city of over 90,000 residents in Comal County, slightly north of the San Antonio Metropolitan Area in Texas. A great amount of analysis was done prior to embarking on the development of the site and that work is not repeated or reproduced herein. We reference other work as appropriate to support our assumptions and conclusions, but this report is focused on determining the environmental, economic, and social benefits created as a result of planned work.

Ultimately, the long–term development of the site will encompass many phases covering a number of years. This specific report focuses on value created to date from Phase I relative to pre–Center conditions and predicts benefits to be created by the planned Phase II intended to commence in 2022. In large part, the phasing is for financing and planning purposes. For the purpose of this analysis and to determine baseline, the “project” is the center and pre–project conditions were the vacant maintenance facility and lot. Value created is based on a start year of the first year operating with a completed Phase II, defined as Year One. Future phases will be evaluated when appropriate and this report updated accordingly.”

The CTBC and NLPI intend to encourage the public to read more and enjoy baseball. By organizing a variety of “Reading × Baseball”activities, it can help children cultivate their interest in reading and sports from an early age, and at the same time, parents and children are encouraged to read together. In the long run, through Home Run Readers, we will create a new model of the “Reading x Baseball” civil–military alliance, integrate sports and book resources, and expand cooperation among varied fields and influences. Such achievements will help not only improve the reading and sports atmosphere for all people,but also cultivate the next Taiwanese generation as happy and intelligent sports enthusiasts.

This report evaluates Home Run Readers activities held from 2016 to 2020 (a total of 5 years).

Dandelion Character Class helps disadvantaged students in the Agape Care Association’s Sanxia Class and Yingge Class by offering the Dandelion Character Class every other week. Through storytelling and DIY courses, students are brought into the story and put themselves in others’ shoes, which brings out character education to help students grow in life.

The purpose of Dandelion Hope Foundation’s release of this report is to evaluate project results, document and thank relevant participants for their past efforts, to thank supporters, donators, and strategic partners. We will provide the valuable opinions found in this report to the board of directors and project managers for reference, so as to optimize future management strategies and maximize the value of resources.

Turkish Grameen Microfinance Program (TGMP) has been established with technical knowledge transferred by the Nobel Prize Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus and the initial capital was provided by a member of the parliament of the 22nd term, Professor Aziz Akgül. Due to the efforts of Professor Aziz Akgül, a donation-based financing model was developed to alleviate poverty which does not require any collateral and is totally based on trust for financially challenged women who are ready to engage in income-generating activities.

This report includes the social impact measurement of the TGMP covering one year period, 2020, of its operations. The SROI (Social Return on Investment) analysis was used as a framework based on seven
principles of the SROI that are reflected in the whole report. In accordance with these principles, all information about TGMP’s social impact measurement is stated with transparency.

The report presents the first “Social Return on Investment” evaluation analysis of the “Teachers Communities” (tr. “Öğretmen Toplulukları”) programme implemented by KODA (Köy Okulları Değişim Ağı – Rural Schools Change Network) in Harran and Diyarbakir in 2019/2020 school year. As it is the first evaluation analysis, the main aim was to develop the framework for future systematic data collection. The findings of the analysis will be used for internal management purposes.

The analysis was conducted according to the SROI methodology – Social Value Principles and related standards. The analysis resulted in calculating the ratio of the social value created per amount of investment as 2,75.

Naomh Breandáin Credit Union (NBCU) Limited is a community credit union in Loughrea, County Galway. It is a financial cooperative owned and controlled by its members. NBCU was set up in 1966; a time when Ireland was experiencing a deep recession and unemployment was high. Most local people were unable to gain credit from banks and many of them were forced into using moneylenders charging unacceptably high rates of interest. It was intended that by providing affordable credit facilities to these people, their standard of living would be improved and the local community would be enriched. The credit union today has more than 14,000 members and assets of €64 million 2, but its mission remains unchanged.

This is a SROI evaluation of NBCU, covering the period 1 October 2020 – 30 September 2021, which is its most recent full financial year. This study describes and measures all the notable changes brought about by the organisation over that period, and values these using monetary equivalents wherever possible.

Newington Credit Union Limited (NCU) is a non-sectarian, not-for-profit, member-owned cooperative established by local people in North Belfast in 1967. It aims to provide effective, efficient and quality services that ensure the financial wellbeing of its members.

This is a SROI evaluation of NCU, covering the period 1 October 2020 – 30 September 2021, which is its most recent full financial year. This study describes and measures all the notable changes brought about by the organisation over that period, and values these using monetary equivalents wherever possible.
