Announcing Warmworks as Social Value Pioneers

Posted 20th December 2021

Social Value UK is proud to announce Warmworks as a Social Value Pioneer! Ahead of their joining, Social Value UK spoke to them about their social value journey so far.

Warmworks was formed in 2015, and is joint venture partnership between Energy Saving Trust, Changeworks and Everwarm. Since 2015, Warmworks has been the Managing Agent of the Scottish Government’s national fuel poverty scheme, Warmer Homes Scotland, and has recently started work on a range of new contracts and initiatives across the country, all of which aim to support people to save money on their energy bills, and to live in warmer and more energy-efficient homes

Why do you think social value is important? In your organisation, your industry or in wider society?

It’s important for our business to deliver sustainable, and meaningful impacts for the communities we serve. This goes beyond targets and outcomes and means thinking about how we design and deliver our services, to maximise our impact for local communities. Measuring our social impact allows us to identify what matters most to our stakeholders, how we can improve, and guides the decisions we take take to be a better business.

Does your organisation have a background in social value/social accounting/SROI?

We have recently completed an in-depth SROI evaluation for Warmer Homes Scotland, which is the Scottish Governments national fuel poverty scheme, delivered by Warmworks. We plan to embed social impact measurement across all of our work in future.

What are your plans for your SVUK membership?

Membership is part of our commitment to embedding social value throughout our business, and we hope to engage with, and learn from other values-driven businesses in the network. We aim to be industry leaders in our sector on understanding, measuring and embedding social value principles in our work, and hope to encourage more organisations to do the same.

“Warmworks is committed to making a difference to people, communities, and our planet. We are delighted to join Social Value UK and be amongst a network of like-minded organisations. Understanding our social value influences how we design and deliver our services, guiding us to make better decisions, and create meaningful impact for the communities we serve.”
