We’re proud to announce Social Enterprise Mark have joined Social Value UK as Social Value Partners!
Social Enterprise Mark CIC is the international social enterprise accreditation authority, which recognises and builds the capabilities of social enterprises as competitive, sustainable businesses, dedicated to maximising social impact.
Their world-first accreditations ensure that the business model remains ethical, credible and commercial. Social Enterprise Mark provide clear standards for the social enterprise sector, defining what it means to be a genuine social enterprise.
Ahead of their joining as Social Value Partners, we asked Social Enterprise Mark a few questions.
Why do you think social value is important? In your organisation, your industry or in wider society?
Social value is at the core of our business; we believe that social enterprises (i.e. businesses whose core motivation is creating value/impact for people and planet) are the future of business, and provide a solution to the mounting social and environmental challenges facing today’s society
We are passionate about broadening the reach, awareness and adoption of the business model – we want social enterprise to break out of the niche to be widely accepted as a credible alternative way of doing business.
We support our Mark holders to articulate their social value and transparently communicate this evidence through our online directory, visited by c.500 visitors each month. We have developed a set of social impact questions, to help applicants and Mark holders to think about the social impact they create and to articulate this clearly and succinctly.
Does your Social Enterprise Mark have a background in social value/social accounting/SROI?
As mentioned above, we have developed a set of social impact questions, which are designed to help social enterprises think about the social impact they create, and to articulate this clearly and succinctly.
We also provide assessment feedback, which enables applicants and renewing Mark holders to recognise how their organisation complies with the best practice criteria defined by the Social Enterprise Mark and provides considerations for future development.
How do you hope to work collaboratively with Social Value UK?
We look forward to collaborating with Social Value UK to promote the importance of social accounting and accreditation to the social enterprise sector, as a tool for reporting on social, environmental and economic performance. Can you provide a specific quote for us to include?
