Value Toolkit
Relevant Authority in Value Toolkit
In the summer of 2020, Social Value UK joined forced with RICS, RIBA, CIOB and UKGBC, to become one of five Relevant Authorities for the new built environment Value Toolkit that was being developed. The Value Toolkit, which is multi-stakeholder project lead by the Construction Innovation Hub and back by UK government funding, aims is to help built environment organisations better define, understand and manage the value created throughout the life cycle of a project.

The model used builds on a four Capitals approach, where Social Value UK has been the custodian of Social Capital – bringing together experts of our network to help define what is Social Capital and how it should be approached in the Value Toolkit.

Our role as Relevant Authority was predominately focused on supporting the module around value definition, which was completed in 2021. In 2022 the Value Toolkit’s launched it’s free digital platform, where the tools that been developed are hosted. It now provides a suite of tools to empower clients and policymakers to make value-based contract and procurement decisions and it ultimately sets out to:
“Driving better social, environmental and economic outcomes through value-based decision-making.”
