Through this network of treatment facilities, a joint venture with Biffa Waste Services, we are able to provide national coverage for sustainable, fully compliant and crucially, landfill tax-free, off-site treatment of a wide range of hazardous wastes
Their approach is to develop pragmatic soil disposal solutions, using innovative technologies where appropriate, that focus on maximising the re-use of material on-site while minimising cost and programme.
Ahead of their joining, we asked them a few questions
Why do you think social value is important? In your organisation, your industry or in wider society?
Social value is important in quantifying the full net value an organisation provides within society and how it supports the social economy.
Social value is already in action in the corporate world through the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and as a business, we adhere to these. Good collaborative procurement can have a real and lasting effect on society and achieve better savings, service and quality.
We promote training and employment opportunities, often for under-represented groups, for example for youth employment, women’s employment, the long-term unemployed and people with physical or learning disabilities.
Does your organisation have a background in social value/social accounting/SROI?
No, we do not have a background in social value etc. We have conducted CSR initiatives in support of the communities where we work.
What are your plans for your SVUK membership?
To learn and share best practice and be part of the movement global campaign. We would like to raise our profile and build our knowledge around social value measurement and management.
We are pleased to announce that we are now a member of Social Value UK, the professional body for social value.
We will support and be part of the focus groups that intend to change the way society accounts for value through principles, practice, people and power. We are proud to be part of developing a community of people and organisations committed to achieving a shared goal of building a movement for change.
