At Social Value UK we are proud to announce Insight for Good as Social Value Partners. Insight for Good’s goal is to inspire forward thinking organisations to meaningfully contribute to society by using insight and evidence for better decision making.
Insight for Good does this by:
- Publishing insights to help social organisations to gain a better understanding of the UN SDGs and how to drive behaviour change to achieve them.
- Supporting organisations to achieve their social objectives by putting people at the heart of the social change process. We prioritise the understanding of human behaviour to help drive social change (rather than simply to measure social impact) using proven insight tools that can be more effective than using a one-size-fits-all approach. This includes using insight tools such as segmentation, customer journeys and behaviour change techniques that can deliver a more sophisticated understanding of the different needs of beneficiaries and their barriers and drivers for change.
- Working with organisations (or groups of organisations) to guide their strategy, marketing and product and service development via research, consultancy or training, so that they are more successful at delivering on their social goals.
Ahead of their Partnership with Social Value UK, we asked Insight For Good a few questions:
Why do you think social value is important? In your organisation, your industry or in wider society?
Understanding how social value is created is fundamental to solving societal and global problems. At Insight for Good, we have chosen to focus our insights on the themes of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We combine the knowledge already gathered in the space of social value with our insight expertise to help organisations facilitate social change more effectively.
At the same time, we are harnessing the capabilities of student researchers who want to make a positive difference in the world to build up the evidence base and share insights around the SDGs themes. Everyone has a part to play in creating positive change, and focusing on social value can lead to real improvements in areas of equality, wellbeing, education, work and sustainability.
Does Insight for Good have a background in social value/social accounting/SROI?
We are supporting other social enterprises to create the baseline that they need to deliver social value, using our unique research processes and tools. We aim for organisations to think of social value as an ongoing process that requires evidence and insight from the outset, rather than an afterthought aimed at seeking investment through social impact measurement.
When we presented at the National Conference of Social Value in November, 2018, we realised the importance of a relationship with Social Value UK, as together we can more effectively help organisations think of social value as a management process, rather than a social impact measurement tool.
How do you hope to work collaboratively with Social Value UK?
Social Value UK and Insight for Good will be joining forces to work together on a number of areas, including co-designing training to bring together the expertise of both organisations. We also plan to collaborate on the development of syndicated research programmes to understand social issues jointly and with other members willing to take part.
Wilma Smythe, CEO and Founder of Insight for Good said “At Insight for Good, we believe that the catalyst for social change is within each of us. That is why our commitment to society begins with the empowerment of individuals and progressive organisations that truly want to change the world. Partnering with Social Value UK is an excellent move for us as it will help us work more closely with those organisations that not only are motivated to make a difference, but also want to do this well by using insight and evidence to make better decisions.”
