Posted 18th September 2023

Social Value UK are delighted to announce Manchester City Council’s leader will give the keynote address at our annual conference.

Labour Party councillor Bev Craig will address delegates at the Friend’s Meeting House, Manchester on October 17th.

Cllr Craig also sits on the Greater Manchester Combined Authority as the Economy, Business and Inclusive Growth portfolio holder.

Tickets are available here.

Born in Belfast, Cllr Craig grew up on a council estate and was the first person in her family to attend university. She holds postgraduate degrees from Warwick Business School and the University of Manchester.

The UK Labour Party have indicated support for social value initiatives, notably during parliamentary debates on the Procurement Bill. The bill currently sits in the Lords for final consideration of Commons amendments.

MemEx 2023 will cover four main themes: Cross-sector partnerships, procurement, maximising value and understanding how to evaluate/measure social value.

SVUK Advocacy and Communications Lead Matthew Mckew will also outline future legislation changes Social Value UK would like to see, reflecting submissions from a member-wide consultation.
