Social Value UK is proud to announce Samtaler have joined us as Organisational members! Ahead of their joining, Social Value UK spoke to them about their social value journey so far.
“We believe the successful businesses of the future will be the ones who understand, and serve, the needs of all their stakeholders and create value for society.
We help businesses understand what social value means for them and the practical things they need to do to serve the needs of all their stakeholders.”
Why do you think social value is important? In your organisation, your industry or in wider society?
For social value to work, it must be intrinsic to everything businesses do, but very few organisations know what ‘good’ social value looks like or have the internal resources or specialist expertise to achieve their ambitions. Most of our clients feel this way before they partner with us, regardless of their understanding of social value. With social value questions in most public sector bids, the risks of not doing anything are significant, from loss of contracts and reputational damage to escalating costs and poor performance. Our team takes the pressure off businesses and gives them the resources they need whenever they need them.
Does your organisation have a background in social value/social accounting/SROI?
Samtaler has top-tier social value, procurement, political, strategy and third-sector consulting expertise across multiple markets and regions. We build a project team with a range of experience and knowledge to get the client the desired results, which could be a combination of Samtaler consultants and industry associates.
Our understanding of, and experience in, social value is broad and deep. Our team understands that society needs profitable businesses and that your social value offer must align with your business goals and other drivers.
Our clients include Airbus, Vattenfall, Capita, 2san, and PeoplePlus, to name a few. We can’t disclose the projects we work on in detail as we sign NDAs with all our clients. However, the types of work we deliver include but are not limited to Bid Writing and Design, Social Procurement, Social Value Strategies and Delivery and Social Value Training.
What are your plans for your SVUK membership?
To be part of the SV movement and connect with like-minded businesses and individuals. We would ask to be included in your Consultancy Directory as we believe we can help businesses understand what ‘good’ social value looks like and how to deliver it. Moreover, we are aware of your training courses, and although we don’t specialise in SV impact reporting, two of our consultants have expressed and submitted their interest in attending a new pilot training course you are aiming to deliver. We are experts in SV. However, the landscape is maturing, and we all still have to learn and develop, so being part of your network ensures we keep up to date with news, policy changes and the general needs of the public and private sectors. We would like to be invited to speak at and attend your events.
“Good social value is about collaborative working in a way that benefits everyone involved. Once you understand it and see how it will grow your business and how you can do it in a way that doesn’t raise your costs, it suddenly seems the obvious way to do business.” – Sarah Stone, Founder and Director of Samtaler
