Value Toolkit: Entering its next phase

Value Toolkit: Entering its next phase

Posted 26th April 2021

As a Relevant Authority and the lead of the development of the definition of Social Capital in the Value Toolkit, we are excited to see this project entering a new phase today.

The Construction Innovation Hub has led this project, which aims driving better social, environmental and economic outcomes through value based decision making. It has been recognised for its potential to be a game changer for the built environment industry as it translates policy aspirations of, for example, the HM Treasury’s Green Book and Balanced Scorecard, into a structured approach for value based decision making across the investment lifecycle of project, programmes and portfolios.

This means better outcomes from what we deliver and how we deliver it, leading to a more sustainable built environment and a more sustainable model for the built environment industry.

Uniting expertise to meet global challenges, the Value Toolkit has been developed in partnership with over 150 experts to change the way the construction industry thinks about and measures value. Social Value UK has had the pleasure of contributing to this work side by side with the industry leaders CIOB, RIBA, RICS and UKGBC, who were all tasked to lead work on the four capitals’ value definitions that the underlying model builds on.

Now, the Construction Innovation Hub has made a call out for the wider sector to partner with the Hub to help fine tune the Value Toolkit, so that it delivers maximum benefits for a wide range of clients in the public and private sector at portfolio level, as well as on projects or programmes.

Registration for the pilot is open until May 21 2021 . During the six month pilot period clients and client advisors can test the Toolkit on live projects and programmes, supported by the Value Toolkit community. Feedback and insights from the pilot will be used to fine tune the Value Toolkit ahead of its public launch in December.

If you are interested in getting involved, visit the Construction Innovation Hub’s website where information on how to register will be available from 29 April 2021.
